Believe it or not, the very first Porsche model, the Porsche 64 developed in 1959 by Aussie engineer Fernidad Porsche, had many components of the VW Beetle (which he also made). After World War II, Fernidad lost his position as Chairmain for Volkwagen and later in 1945, he was arrested. While imprisoned, his son, Ferry Porsche, built his own car simply because there weren't any that he wanted to buy. Over the next two years until his father was released, he steered the company through many trials while working on the first of many models, the 356. Today, there are over two dozen different types of Porsche models and regardless of the type of Porsche you own, they are still recommended and known to many as one of the most luxurious sports cars to date and that's why having a resource like Kassel Motorsports for Porsche service is so important.
Rarely is a Porsche someone’s daily driver car. A Porsche is special; handed down in the family, a retirement present, a show car, an investment. It only makes sense to keep it in the best shape and extend its life as long as possible. There is a recommended Porsche service schedule based on the model and year of your vehicle designed to do just that. Your car should indicate to you when it's time for service with a light indicator, but you want to have a general idea of what’s ahead to avoid pushing the limits.
For Porsche vehicles we recommend rotating three types of service. First is the oil change. Second is Service A. After that is Service B. Your Porsche service schedule should look something like this: oil change, Service A, oil change, Service B, oil change, Service A, and so forth. Always keep an eye on your cars mileage and service lights. If you’re a Porsche driver that likes to take your car on high-speed runs, be weary of rallying the engine too hard. Porsche’s are susceptible to intermediate shaft bearing failure which results in needing a full engine replacement even in low mileage. Changing the oil and oil filter are first and foremost when it comes to Porsche service. During oil changes we take a look at the brakes, check lights and top off fluids. During Inspection I important areas are inspected such as engine coolant, transmission fluids, fuel tank and fuel lines, struts and shocks, the exhaust system, instrument panels, and steering functionality. Inspection II includes air filter, serpentine belt, oxygen sensor, and spark plugs. It might seem like a lot of work, but keep in mind that each Inspection is in-between oil changes and that Inspection I and II alternate.
